segue into next years similarity to this year;  d9 has made available a special xmas (song) download for FREE.

it has all the starry eyed luster you expect from this time of year, and is only matched in quality by it's short length.

please, share it with your loved ones/limited invitation only friends this season.

iTunes calls it - "Unclassifiable"

d9 Presents SOCAN National Achievement Award
by insider
Dec 2, 2009

On November 23rd, d9 presented the SOCAN National Achievement Award to recording artist Rita MacNeil.  The awards ceremony was held at Roy Thompson Hall in Toronto, Canada.  For those who have heard 'Sunday in Savannah' off of d9's latest release - or for those who haven't - it is Rita's beautiful voice that is featured in this song.  (Pictures to follow...)

"...I cannot say enough to describe the impact that Rita’s words, voice and humility has had on my life, as an artist and as a human being....  Her songs are created from the fibers and realities that connect us and have become anthems to the weak, the loved, the unloved and the invisible..." - excerpt from d9's presentation speech

Fields of Gold (Sting)
by d9
Nov 26, 2009

i have posted a version of the song 'Fields of Gold' (written by Sting) that was recorded for 'Ten Bulls' in 1998, but never made it to the final sequencing.

if my memory serves me correct - i was tha most hesitant about releasing this track as part of the final sequence and i may have had my reasons, but now listening back i can't remember what they were.

this still doesn't change the fact that i think it is a beautiful version of tha song...

playing on this version of 'Fields of Gold' is Bill Frisell, Wayne Horvitz, Michael Rhodes, Michael Shrieve and me (d9).

the track was produced by Michael Shrieve.

the track was recorded by Bob Stark.

*you can hear it at TAKE IT!, but this FREE download is only available to those who are subscribed to the mailing list. sign up and download it now for yor next walk to the edge.

Nov 10, 2009

i have been busy preparing and rehearsing for upcoming shows for end of '09 and for Winter/Spring 2010.

shows are slowly being organized for hopefully Toronto  and onward in the new year to New York State/NYC.

please forward any information as ta where you think we should consider for performances.

if we can there at all, and if budget allows for it, we will try our best ta do it.

*********************************************************************************

i will also be posting, this and next month, more downloads of tracks that have not previously been made available.

more specifically, i will be tryin to make available tracks that never made the sequencing of past 'albums' (outtakes).

watch for em at TAKE IT! over tha nex few weeks.

**********************************************************************************

Also, i have been busy gathereing files and files from a mound of backup media for B3 Hammond Organist John T. Davis.

John T. and i spent months (in 2006) at my studio, his loft and another studio in Toronto, Canada recording him and his B3.

John T has finally decided on a sequence to what will be known as 'OrganVibe', and i will be finishing mixes by end of November.  he plans to release this very soon.
